October Favourites! | 2016

So as you can see from the title, it's time for another favourites post - and this is one of my favourites because I have loads of things that I genuinely love to talk about!

Favourite Movie (1): Star Trek Beyond

So I know that my favourite movie last month was a Star Trek movie, but OMG this movie is amazing! It's the third instalment in the Star Trek reboot franchise and it's definitely a welcome addition. Rather than it being about the crew trying to save the enterprise, but about them trying to save each other. I loved seeing the way that their characters all reacted in these situations, as well as the fact that they were all trapped with a character that they didn't usually spend that much time with, which was a nice change. Definitely worth a watch!

Favourite Movie (2): Blind Dating

This movie is 10 years old this year and I only watched it this week which is unbelievable! I took a chance on this because it stars Chris Pine, so I was genuinely surprised when it was actually a really good movie! Chris plays Danny, a blind 22 year old virgin who wants to have his first meaningful relationship. With the help of his brother Larry, and many disastrous dates, a comedic rom com turns into a film about Danny's fight to see, and whether finding love depends on this. Honestly, it is packaged like a crap version of American Pie, but it is so much more than that. I'm so glad that Chris Pine is my current obsession so that I could finally watch this film because it's incredible and I'd recommend it to everyone. Buy yourself a cheap copy from amazon because it's so worth it!

Favourite TV Show: Black-ish

My dad told me to watch this ages ago but I only just got around to it and I'm really impressed, I definitely didn't think it would be as funny as it is! But in addition to this, it talks about a lot of issues for black people in a comedic way, which is really important but also really entertaining.

Favourite Song (1): Shoutout To My Ex

I am in love with this song! I don't even have an ex and I listen to it all the time and sing it as loud as I can. It's like the best break-up song ever because it's empowering and really makes me feel good about this horrible break-up that I've never actually had!

Favourite Song (2): Famous

I'm gonna assume that a lot of my readers aren't big 'The Wanted' or 'Nathan Sykes' fans, but if you are, tell me so that we can bond over the love and affection of one of the most amazing boybands of our time! But right now, Nathan is doing this solo thing so well, and this song is so beautiful! Forget how amazing his voice sounds, the song is... I can't even describe it and I'm listening to it on a loop right now! Watch the video for this song on YouTube and tell me what you think of it!

Favourite YouTuber: Carrie Hope Fletcher

Carrie has just been doing and announcing so many exciting things, and I love the fact that she works so hard and does so much that we see and read. The thing that I'm most excited about is her new novella based on her novel 'On The Other Side' that is being sold exclusively through amazon! I can't wait to order myself a copy!

Favourite Game: Sims 2

I am a massive sims gamer. I know that everyone is really excited over the sims 4 expansion packs right now, but for me, I love the older sims games. I should do a post about why I prefer sims 2 and 3 to 4, but the main reason that I love sims 2 is the cheats - it is so easy to manipulate relationships, to kill a sim or get a sim pregnant with anyone in the vicinity, and those things make for a really exciting game! If you'd like to see a whole post on this, please let me know!

Favourite Music Artist: Little Mix

I've never really been the biggest fan of Little Mix, but I had to admit to myself that every single song they've ever released has been incredible, and I think that's a testament to them and how hard they work, as well as how talented they are, and I can't wait to hear more music that they put out into the world, because I'm sure it'll be equally amazing!

Favourite Celebrity: Emily Blunt

I am such a huge fan of Emily Blunt, I think she's an amazing actress who's done some incredible things with her career. I definitely haven't seen as many of her movies as I should have, but I want to rectify this by watching as many of her movies as I can when I have my half term break soon. The movie of hers that I'd recommend the most is 'The Adjustment Bureau' as it's my favourite of hers and also stars Matt Damon, another of my favourite actors!

Favourite YouTube Video: Itty Bitty Book Announcement

 As I said before when I was talking about Carrie, here is her announcement video where she talks about her new novella, which I can't wait to buy! Especially because the cover is so pretty and I already know how much I love her writing style!

 Chris Pine Movies

I went on a bit of an amazon binge the other day which resulted in me purchasing 6 movies that star Chris Pine, 3 of which I've seen before. I know that this is crazy, but at the same time, I'm so excited to watch them! Chris Pine is an amazing actor and every film I've seen so far that stars him has been really good, so I can't wait to see the other three that I haven't yet seen!

Young Willy Wonka (Timothée Chalamet) tries to follow his dreams to become a respected chocolatier, despite opposition at every turn . This film was never particularly high on my 'to-watch' list, but it was always on my radar, so I'm glad I've finally seen it. I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would, but I still definitely had problems with it! For a start, while I love the fact that it was a musical, I didn't actually like any of the actual songs. Miller's Girl | Film Review

A creative writing assignment complicates the relationship between a teacher (Martin Freeman) and his student (Jenna Ortega). I heard about this film maybe once and remember being interested in it, but then I never heard anything about it again. So when I saw it was available to rent/buy on Prime Video, I decided to give it a shot.  I don't know what to make of this one. I didn't hate it, but there wasn't a lot to like. The only thing I did like was that Martin Freeman and Jenna Ortega worked really well together and had good chemistry. I'd love to see them work together again, in a film with a better plot and a less weird (platonic) relationship. The characters are written really weirdly. There were many moments when they said things that were just so unbelievable, especially Jenna Ortega's character, Cairo. American Psycho | 100 Movies Bucket List

This one was a re-watch. I'd seen this film once before watching it for the Bucket List. My memories of it weren't wholly positive - I didn't love the first watch, and while I didn't hate it, it wasn't a film that I was itching to watch again. Though saying that, I knew that I probably would watch it again eventually, because I knew how much of a classic it was. Like a lot of films I've watched for the Bucket List, I liked it more this time around than I did the first time, though I still didn't love it as much as I wanted to. But that being said, I did really enjoy it. The writing was great and Christian Bale was amazing in the role, as were the supporting actors. For me, though, the most iconic thing about this movie is its soundtrack. The songs used are amazing and fit the movie so well. They're used in such a unique, original way, that it feels like this alone makes the movie a classic. The film is really well made, and even though I don't love i

Snatch | 100 Movies Bucket List

I'd never heard of this film before last year, when I watched it for the first time, so this time around was my second watch. Guy Richie's movies tend to be a bit hit-or-miss for me. This is one of the only ones where I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. I didn't love the story, it didn't hold my interest the whole way through. But one thing that I absolutely loved was the dialogue. It was smart, quippy and made the film a much more fun watch than the plot itself would suggest. Another thing I absolutely loved was Brad Pitt's performance. This was probably one of my favourite roles of his. He did a great job with the character, and it was really different to everything else I've seen him in. But that being said, all of the performances were great. For me, if I had to guess why this film is considered a classic, it would 100% be because of the script and performances, rather than the film as a whole. It was the script that kept me locked in and

My Problem With '8 Simple Rules'

Hey Guys x Today's post might come out as more of a rant, which I'm OK with because I haven't ranted about something in a while! Last year, I started watching the show '8 Simple Rules' when it started playing on Comedy Central. It originally came on between 2002 and 2005 but I didn't watch it when it was first on. Anyway, I really got into it. There were only three seasons, so it was over before I wanted it to be. And I loved this show, and I still love it. Comedy Central doesn't play it anymore but if it did I would dive right back into it because I love a good sitcom. However, I have a major gripe with a plotline of the show, that got more prominent in season 2/3. Let me just explain the characters a bit, so you know who I'm taking about in case you never watched it.
